Mary Russo Riley
Mary Russo Riley, Administrator for Chesapeake Department of Human Services, Division of Community Programs, lives in Chesapeake. She received a B.A. and M.A. in Sociology. She oversees programming and planning for youth ages 0-22 years of age in Chesapeake. She has worked on systems-change in Chesapeake for 30 years. Her favorite children’s book is The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein. Her best memory from kindergarten is being able to walk with her friends to school.
Vision for Minus 9 to 5:
“Every child is born healthy, enters kindergarten ready to learn and becomes a productive member of our community. She hopes that every child will love being a child.”
