Christy Gates
Christy Gates is a Minus 9 to 5 Program Engagement Assistant working on the Virginia Birth to Five (VQB5) project for Ready Region Southeastern. Christy received her undergraduate at JMU before attending ODU for her Master’s in early childhood education. Prior to coming to EVMS, Christy was a preschool lead teacher at Old Dominion University Children’s Learning and Research Center. She has over 17 years of experience in early childhood settings, where she has had the opportunity to work closely with young children, families, educators, and administrators. She has a strong understanding of child development, classroom best practices, and the importance of building collaborative, respectful partnerships within early learning communities. She is excited and committed to fostering positive relationships, providing meaningful support, and serving as a helpful resource for providers and educators. Christy can be reached at 757-446-5016.
