Ready Region Family Councils

Family gathered together

Our Focus

The Ready Region Southeastern (RRSE) has been charged with helping our region identify current needs and opportunities for improving family engagement work and elevating family voice and choice. The Ready Region Southeastern Family Council is a diverse and equitable representation of traditional, blended, multi-generational, and non-traditional families raising children aged 0-5. This includes parents/caregivers, foster parents, grandparents, and kinship care. The Council’s focus is to help build a stronger early childhood system, learn about early childhood care and education systems, community resources, discuss current programs and determine what more is needed by families to help raise children who are healthy, thriving, and ready to learn.

Family Council members will help us close the gaps in early childhood education and will engage in the design and improvement of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) services and systems to ensure they are responsive to family voice and choice. We are seeking new members as changemakers who desire to help families in their community.

Ready Region Southeastern has established three separate Family Council sub-regions, serving the Eastern ShoreSouth Hampton Roads, and Western Tidewater regions. For more information, check out What Family Engagement is all about.

Family Council meeting specifics:

Ready Region Family Council has opened my eyes to the needs of other families in our community and offered valuable resources and training I didn't know were available to my family as well.
